Safe, Gentle and Effective Chiropractic Adjustments in Portland, ME

Hi, I'm Dr. Sean Murphy. And this is Dr. Chelsea Schultes and we're here at Chiropractic and Sports Health. And I'm here to show you what a lumbar adjustment is.

The Chiropractic Lumbar Adjustment

So a lumbar adjustment is going to help with any sort of low back pain injuries that you might have, where you have some range of motion lost, and the adjustment is going to help restore some of that range of motion. Okay, so what we're gonna do here is Chelsea's gonna help demonstrate how we check for some range of motion. So first thing I'm going to have you do is I'm going to have you reach down and try to touch your toes. Okay, good. Now come on up. Now, put your hands on your hips and bend backwards. Good. Okay, I'm gonna have you lean to the side and try and touch your knee. And then link to the side attention to other knee. Good. And now we have you cross your arms in front of you, and then turn to the side and then turn to the other side.

Okay, so Chelsea gets adjusted regularly and she has pretty good range of motion. But the next thing that we're going to do is I'm going to have her lay facedown on the table right here. And we're going to check to see any issues in range of motion between each of her vertebrae.

Checking Range of Motion Between Vertebrae

Okay, so I'm just feeling around feel for any tension in her spine for any places that aren't moving as well as the other ones are. Okay, so now, Chelsea would have you lay on your side facing me. Okay, you're finally sitting straight. Your toddler is bent, you're gonna grab the top elbow. Okay, so then what we're going to do is I'm going to have Chelsea take a deep breath in, and then breathe all the way out. And then we give her low back a little push. There we go. And that will help improve some of the range of motion in her back. It'll help alleviate some of her back pain, and she'll be feeling much better in no time.
